SAEC SHS-5

The headshell is the mechanical foundation of your cartridge. If it flexes or resonates, the stylus reads that movement as part of the groove signal. SAEC's answer is to machine the SHS-5 from solid aluminium alloy, which gives you rigidity without mass: 16g, light enough for medium compliance cartridges, stiff enough to stay out of the music.The connector collar is machined aluminium too, not cast, so the fit onto the tonearm is precise. Terminal pins are gold plated. The finger lift is a new design, shaped with fingertip feel in mind, which sounds like a small thing until you are cueing a record in dim light.The included leads are the SR-500, using SAEC's own PC-Triple C continuous crystal copper, the forged conductor where crystal boundaries are aligned along the signal path. The cartridge signal is the smallest in your system. These leads exist so none of it gets lost between stylus and tonearm wiring.
