The WE-4700 is the current expression of the idea that made SAEC famous: the double knife edge bearing. Instead of a conventional ball bearing pivot, the arm rests on two knife edges, which cuts bearing friction dramatically. Lower friction means the stylus tracks groove modulations it would otherwise skip over, and the energy that would have been lost in the bearing shows up as information instead.
This is a static balance universal arm, 221mm effective length, 315mm overall, 12mm overhang. The mounting hole is 30mm, deliberately the same dimension as the long running WE-407/23, so decades of existing armboards accept it directly. Two counterweights come standard, covering cartridges from 13g to 35g including the headshell, and a 16g duralumin headshell is included in the box.
The internal wiring is SAEC's own cable: PC-Triple C conductors insulated with a porous natural material, chosen specifically for the tiny phono signal.
