Analogue Interconnect FAQ

What is the difference between RCA and XLR analogue interconnects?
RCA is unbalanced: a single signal conductor with a shield that doubles as ground. XLR is balanced: two signal conductors plus a separate ground, with noise cancelled at the receiving end. Balanced connections are more resistant to interference, particularly on longer runs.
Can I use an XLR to RCA cable to connect a balanced source to an unbalanced input?
Often yes, and it is a common request. The correct wiring depends on the equipment at both ends, so contact us with your model numbers and we will build the right cable rather than have you gamble on a generic adapter.
What length and termination options are available for RCA and XLR cables?
Lengths from 0.5 m to 5.0 m in 0.5 m steps, with longer runs quoted on request. Terminations include Oyaide, Furutech and generic RCA and XLR connectors, chosen at checkout or confirmed with us directly.
Which analogue audio cable is best between a source and amplifier or preamp?
Match the connection type your gear offers first, then choose by build quality. For most single-ended systems the Jami or Saba RCA is the sweet spot; balanced systems benefit from the Jami XLR or the High End Line 4.8S XLR.
