KRIPTON PC-HR500M-Triple C. HR Silky Power Cable.The smaller brother of the PC-HR1500M, built with the same conductor, the same Silky structure and the same shielding, in a 3.5sq gauge that suits source components, preamps and integrated amplifiers.
The conductor: PC-Triple C continuous crystal copperPC-Triple C starts as forged copper. The copper is struck tens of thousands of times at a fixed angle and direction under light pressure, a process called fixed angle continuous transfer forging. This aligns the crystal structure and grain boundaries in the direction of current flow and closes the microscopic voids that impede conduction. The forged copper is drawn into fine 0.2mm strands, then annealed at precisely controlled temperature and time for the specific gauge, fusing the crystals into a continuous structure.Each core of the HR500M is a 7/16/0.2 bundle. That is seven sub bundles of sixteen 0.2mm PC-Triple C strands, giving 3.5sq of conductor cross section per core. Three cores are twisted together in a right hand lay.
The Silky structure: Triple Vibration DampingAny conductor carrying current generates micro vibration. Kripton damps it at three points:
- Natural silk thread interposed between the cores. Silk combines flexibility and elasticity, and its high moisture absorption means it resists static charge. Its natural elasticity absorbs the vibration generated by current flow.
- Insulation made from flame resistant polyolefin infused with a damping agent.
- An outer sheath of flame resistant polyethylene, also with a damping agent.
This pairing of rigid PC-Triple C and soft silk is what Kripton calls the Silky structure, a philosophy carried over from their speaker cabinet design.
Shielding and finishThe three core assembly is wrapped in a single sided copper tape shield and finished in a black monofilament braided sleeve over a dark green sheath. Outer diameter is 12.9mm, still flexible enough to dress behind a rack.
