Power Cable FAQ

What is the best power cable for a hi-fi amplifier?
Amplifiers draw the most current in a system, so favour heavier-gauge designs such as the Oyaide CV-S 5.5sq, TUNAMI NIGO V2 or Acrolink 7N-PC4030. Match the IEC connector, usually C13 or C19, to your amplifier's inlet.
What is the best power cable for a DAC?
DACs are sensitive to noise rather than current draw. A well-shielded cable such as the SAEC AC-3003 or Oyaide L/i50 OFC suits source components, and clean power from a filter or distributor helps further.
How do I know which IEC connector (C13, C7 or C19) my component needs?
Check the inlet on the back of your component. C13 is the standard three-pin socket on most hi-fi gear, C7 is the small figure-8 on slim devices, and C19 is the large horizontal inlet on high-current amplifiers. Send us a photo of the inlet if you are unsure.
Are audiophile power cables worth it for hi-fi systems?
In our experience yes, most clearly on amplifiers and source components in resolving systems. Expect a lower noise floor and easier dynamics rather than a different sound signature. Start with one cable on the component that matters most and judge from there.
Can I choose custom lengths and terminations?
Yes. Every power cable is built to order in Sydney in 0.5 m steps, with your choice of Furutech, Oyaide or generic plugs and the IEC connector your component needs.
